Dark Hedges Sunrise

Dark Hedges Sunrise

The Dark Hedges is a dramatic 'tree tunnel' of ancient beech trees, which can be found on a narrow country road near the village of Stranocum. It is now internationally famous, thanks to featuring in the HBO series, Game of Thrones. It has also featured in a number of major landscape photography competitions. It is extremely popular, so much so that currently there is a risk of the total destruction of the area unless steps are taken to protect it. I took this photo at sunrise a number of summers ago, when few had heard of the location. Now it is difficult to take a photo like this without including buses, cars, visitors, wedding parties etc.
